Shilo Sanders, the undrafted rookie safety from Colorado, is embracing his new life in Tampa Bay after signing with the Buccaneers.

Known for his dynamic playmaking and leadership on the field, Sanders is quickly adapting to the challenges and opportunities that come with being a part of an NFL team.

Adjusting to the Florida climate has been one of Sanders‘ initial hurdles. Coming from Colorado’s dry air and higher elevation, he finds Tampa’s heat and humidity to be a significant change.

“It’s not really the heat, it’s the humidity,” Sanders remarked. “You walk out of the hotel and it’s literally just-you feel like you gotta take a shower.”

Despite these challenges, Sanders is optimistic, stating, “I’m built for Florida. Hoping my Prime Time genetics kick in.” His father, Deion Sanders, also expressed confidence in his son’s ability to thrive, saying, “Tampa’s a wonderful spot.”

Making an impact on the field

At training camp, Sanders has been turning heads with his performance. Head coach Todd Bowles praised his intelligence and vocal presence, noting, “You can hear him, making calls and everything, so he has a good grasp of things Day 1.”

Bowles emphasized the importance of consistency, stating, “You have to make plays in pads. That’s what it comes down to-knowing what to do and then doing it consistently and constantly getting better every day.”

Sanders is also focusing on building relationships within the team. He has taken the initiative to learn his teammates’ preferences, even creating a spreadsheet of their favorite snacks to ensure the safety room is well-stocked during long meetings.

“I’m gonna be the snack guy,” Sanders said with a smile. “I have to make sure the vets are good, because they’ve really been helping me and teaching me a lot of stuff.”

As Sanders continues to adjust to life in Tampa Bay, he remains focused on proving himself on the field. His dedication and positive attitude have made a strong impression on his coaches and teammates alike.

With the support of his family and the Buccaneers organization, Sanders is determined to make the most of this opportunity and contribute to the team’s success.
