With the 2025 NFL Draft nearing, everyone’s intrigue is on the quarterbacks. That’s practically always the case when it comes to drafts, but this year is a bit different than others; simply because the top prospects at the position have question marks that don’t make them surefire locks to be drafted first or second overall.

For Cam Ward, there’s skepticism about his decision-making when it comes to avoiding negative plays. For Shedeur Sanders, there’s concern about his physical tools and his true ceiling in the NFL. Despite those potential drawbacks, the two quarterbacks are still expected to go within the Top 10 picks. The question is, where will they end up?

Could New York Jets trade up for Shedeur Sanders?

It sounds like Ward will go ahead of Sanders, possibly as early a No. 1 or as late as No. 3 to the New York Giants. Sanders could fall a bit more, but ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. has an idea to stop him from sliding too much: TheNew York Jets trading up to draft him as Aaron Rodgers‘ replacement.

You’re in a division with Josh (Allen), Drake Maye, Tua (Tagovailoa). And the AFC loaded with great quarterbacks… You gotta get a quarterback. Who’s it gonna be? Shedeur Sanders, he’s dropping to the Raiders. What would preclude the Jets from going up ahead of the Raiders and getting a guy like Shedeur Sanders?

Kiper also mentions the possibility of Sanders even falling to pick No. 7, which would allow the Jets to stay put and draft him. That scenario would likely only happen if the Las Vegas Raiders sign one of the top QBs available in free agency; most likely Sam Darnold. The Raiders would probably draft Sanders at No. 6 if they don’t get Darnold, and maybe even if they do.

The Jets have essentially admitted that they are fully rebuilding with some of their early offseason moves. The easiest way to start anew is with a new GM, new head coach and new quarterback. They have the first two, and Sanders would complete that trifecta.
