Shedeur Sanders continues as one of the most polarizing first-round prospects of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former star quarterback for the University of Colorado has been touted as a top-flight prospect for nearly two years…but the reality come draft night next month could be starkly different.

Sanders has received criticism for his behavior and attitude, the perception that he is “brash“, “arrogant“, or “only in it for the money” making the rounds on social media and in NFL front offices. However, will the 23-year-old’s innate arm talent win out in the end and warrant a top-five selection on April 24?

Draft analyst pushes back on “brash and arrogant”

Longtime NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay has insisted that NFL front offices largely consider Sanders a good talent, and opinion of the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year remains “high”. Speaking on “The McShay Show”, McShay explained that while Sanders did not enjoy the most “professional” interview cycle, talent evaluators “like him a lot” and have kept their own analysis tied to what Sanders has put on tape.

However, Miami‘s Cam Ward is still the top QB on McShay’s board, and Ward is more likely to go #1 overall to the Tennessee Titans — with Sanders’ draft range still in some flux.

The debate over Sanders — and the role of his father Deion in the pre-draft process — will only continue to grow in the weeks leading up to the 2025 draft. Some believe he is assured of going top-three; others believe he is a second-round talent. Wherever he is selected, it will be up to Shedeur to meet the expectations that have followed him from the NCAA in his quest to become “legendary“.
