We are now less than two weeks away from the 2025 NFL Draft taking place. Nothing is set in stone yet, but Cam Ward is expected to be the first player taken by the Tennessee Titans, by most accounts. Starting with pick No. 2, all hell could break loose. While Travis Hunter is the favorite to go at that selection to the Cleveland Browns, it’s not a lock. Abdul Carter and Shedeur Sanders appear to be in contention as well.
The Browns could use a fresh start at the quarterback position, but Sanders has question marks that haven’t necessarily been answered throughout the predraft process. Given the wide range of feelings on Sanders, it’s hard to decipher where he will go on draft night. Mock drafts have him going as high as No. 2 and as low as No. 24. Given that the Saints aren’t sold on Carr as the team’s franchise quarterback due to his middling performance through two seasons, this could open the door to Sanders being the pick if he’s there at 9th overall.
As of right now, the Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be the teams most interested in securing Sanders’ services. The Steelers don’t pick until 21st overall, so they would need to make a huge jump up to get him. And it seems they would have to jump the Saints to do it.
