Shedeur Sanders scrutiny is getting more and more intense as the 2025 NFL Draft looms. Sanders, the star quarterback for the University of Colorado, excelled for the Buffs over the past two seasons while under the tutelage of his dad, head coach and former NFL star Deion Sanders. But concerns have surrounded Shedeur — specifically, centered on his readiness for pro football.

Not content with seeing Shedeur throw more than 900 passes over the past two seasons, or lead Colorado to a nine-win season in 2024, analysts and executives ahve sounded alarms over the 23-year-old’s lifestyle and attitude, with some believing he wants the NFL “paper” instead of a Super Bowl. But does that perspective align with reality? Well, perhaps not.

NFL “hints” at Shedeur prominence on draft night

The NFL’s official X/Twitter account on Sunday changed its header to a picture of Sanders lounging at the Scouting Combine, which some fans believe is an indication that the Colorado signal-caller might end up going first overall after all the handwringing over his preparation to play in the NFL.

With a winning smile and a confident demeanor, Sanders — like his father — is convinced he will succeed in the pros, even as executives and analysts worry that he is overconfident, if not arrogant. Still, in a draft considered weak on franchise-altering quarterbacks, a team could look at Sanders and wonder if they wouldn’t miss a huge opportunity by passing on him.

But other teams may already be eyeing the 2026 draft to reset at quarterback. The Seattle Seahawks are the latest franchise to enter that conversation after they dealt Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders — the team with which Sanders has been most closely linked throughout the pre-draft process.

So will Sanders become the highest-drafted member of the Sanders family? Or will he tumble out of the top 10? All will be revealed in Green Bay on April 24.
