Shedeur Sanders is one of the biggest stories of the 2025 NFL Draft. The former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback could be one of the highest picks in the event, which means that he can be the face of the league in the next years.

Miami Hurricanes standout Cam Ward is the other quarterback that could be picked right after Sanders – some analysts even think that he could be selected before Shedeur -. Without a doubt, the young players would need to step up soon and help their teams win.

The 2025 NFL Draft is scheduled to start April 24th and aside for the Sanders vs. Ward rivalry, there’s other players that will be on the spotlight, including dual threat Travis HunterHeisman Trophy winner as a wide receiver and cornerback -, Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter, and Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham.

Shedeur Sanders is being compared to C.J. Stroud

NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah talked about the similarities he finds between Shedeur Sanders‘ passing techniques and the ones former rookie of the year C.J. Stroud – starting quarterback for the Houston Texans – have displayed throughout his young career.

“So if you think about just how C.J. Stroud threw the ball, with cleats on the ground, very fundamentally sound, you see a lot of those same atributes from Shedeur. You see it in some of the pocket movements, he had a lot of practice with this, took a ton of sacks, a lot of that because of what was in front of him.” the expert said.

He added that Sanders showed areas where he continued to improve in his game as he goes forward: “toughness, standing in there under pressure and delivering beautiful balls down the field, I saw a lot of that in his two years at Colorado with the accuracy, the touch”.

Which team will pick Shedeur Sanders?

There’s no doubt that Shedeur Sanders has what it takes to become an NFL star, the only question now is which team is going to step forward and select him in the 2025 Draft. The franchise that picks him would not only get a spectacular quarterback but also a player that can elevate his teammates.

A CBS Sporst mock draft has quarterback Cam Ward selected first overall by the New York Giants – a franchise that Shedeur has mentioned as his preference – because of the former Miami Hurricanes player desirability by a franchise that has suffered in the last decade at the quarterback position.

Acording to this mock, Shedeur Sanders will be the number 2 pick overall, a selection made by the Cleveland Browns. “Head coach Kevin Stefanski spoke highly of both Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders at the NFL combine, but in one specific interview, he pointed out that two quarterback traits he covets are accuracy and decision-making. Sanders doesn’t wow you with his athletic traits, but he certainly possesses those attributes, so that’s the direction Cleveland goes.”
