Without a doubt, no NFL player selected in the fifth round of the draft has been more talked about than Shedeur Sanders.
Projected to be a top-10 pick, the Cleveland Browns ended the agony of Coach Prime’s son at No. 144, but the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback has been the talk of the town for another reason.
Shedeur Sanders has left everyone with their mouths agape after his most recent appearance at Justin Hardee’s youth soccer camp in Ohio. The NFL veteran gathered several kids who, when they saw the QB arrive, couldn’t contain their excitement.
Between screams, laughter and amazement, Sanders was welcomed in an atmosphere where the joy, energy and excitement of those present soaked everything. Towards the end of the camp, to consecrate the experience, the children gathered together with Shedeur and performed his signature watch-checkcelebration.
Fans’ reaction on social media
The moment was shared on X, formerly Twitter, by user @Rashee_longway. “QB1” he wrote alongside two videos of Shedeur with the crowd.
Fans were quick to leave their comments for the Browns quarterback: “Love the happiness Shedeur bringing to the children. Stay focus,” commented one user, “This is so great to see! A QB who has a genuine happiness to be here to represent the Browns. Win or lose, this type of positive energy is something the Browns and Cleveland need. The culture changes now,” wrote another fan, “He will own it as a team player like past greats!” shared another fan.
Of course, Shedeur was not going to stay out of it all and shared this post to which he added a fire emoji as a way of thanking his fans.
The fight for the Browns starting job
With a Deshaun Watson (2024 starter) sidelined with an Achilles injury, Cleveland will have to reveal who will fill the starting quarterback job.
Veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, who were already part of the team are joined by newcomers Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel after the Draft. With four players vying for the QB1 job, the competition is stiff and numerous.
And while all have demonstrated their skills and strengths, the Browns still don’t have a clear QB1.
