Shakira has revealed how she feels almost three years after her separation from Gerard Pique, while she is on tour in Latin America, the Colombian singer admitted in an interview that she has not yet rebuilt herself after the betrayal of her former partner.

“The healing processes take many years, and with this I have taken a great weight off my shoulders, that is how I lick my wounds, how the wolf washes her wounds and it is precisely by writing, and it is what I do, some will see it well, others will see it badly but I am responsible for myself and to be well, to be well for my children, for my children, for my pack,” Shakira told N+.

After saying her famous phrase “Women don’t cry anymore”, the interviewer asked her if she doesn’t cry anymore. “Only for the necessary reasons,” Shakira said. “The thing is that before they told us how to cry, behind closed doors, not to cry in front of the children, to hide the pain, to keep up appearances, now no one can tell you how to heal, how to rebuild yourself, we all have, women and men, that right to be sincere, in sincerity is healing, that of lying to oneself, lying to society is no longer going,” said the singer.

When asked if she has turned pain into power, the singer said she has transformed pain into creativity.

“You have to transform it, you have to sublimate it, what I have experienced in a way has been an alchemical process,” she explained. “All that anger, all that pain, all that I’ve felt at some point, transform it and take advantage of it in creativity, in productivity, to be able to rebuild myself.”

The ‘Te Felicito’ singer also spoke about the importance of recognizing and expressing when you don’t feel well. She acknowledged that the public has helped her feel valued.

“We have been taught to hide our feelings, especially now with social networks, everyone pretends to be fine and I think it is also important to recognize vulnerability, to say that we are also made of flesh, bone, tears and that also makes us strong. And who is safe from problems, challenges, falls? We all go through difficult times, we all go through some disappointment and the public has done a great job in making me feel valued and in making me feel that it is worth fighting for,” Shakira said.
