Whilst many voices do their best to keep Meghan Markle down, Serena Williams has long been championing anything that the Duchess of Sussex does and that isn’t changing any time soon.

Meghan has just released a new Netflix documentary and tennis legend Serena was one of the first to shout about the show, writing on Instagram: “I’m so excited for you to check out ‘WITH LOVE, MEGHAN,’ now streaming exclusively on Netflix!”

Williams described it as “a fun and inspiring series” featuring her “wonderful friend @meghan, the Duchess of Sussex”.

She added that the show “reminds us all how easy it is to bring a little beauty into our everyday lives, even when we least expect it. Can’t wait for you to experience it!”

In the show, Serena and Meghan dine together at the Tre Luna restaurant which is not far from where Meghan lives with Prince Harry and their children.

A more awkward encounter

Another guest on the show was Mindy Kaling, who had a very awkward moment with Meghan.

The two were talking about their upbringings and what sort of food they ate, with Meghan calling herself a ‘latchkey kid’ who ‘grew up with a lot of fast food and TV tray dinners’, listing off US chains Pollo Loco, Taco Bell and Jack In The Box.

That was when Mindy made the mistake that caused some tension. Her response was: “I don’t think anyone in the world knows that Meghan Markle has eaten Jack In The Box and loves it.”

Meghan managed to smile as she then said to Mindy: “It’s so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle, you know I’m Sussex now.”

Meghan then explained that having children was what made her properly drop the Markle name.

“You have kids and you go ‘No, I share my name with my children’. I didn’t know how meaningful it would be to me but it just means so much to go ‘This is OUR family name. Our little family name’,” she explained.

Mindy‘s slightly awkward response was: “Well now I know and I love it.”
