Alexis Ohanian finds a new vocation in life as the Reddit co-founder takes up a new task of becoming an “umbrella holder” for his wife and kids as he dedicates himself to his family with Serena Williams.
The 41-year-old social media magnate shares daughters Olympia and Adira with the 23-time Grand Slam winner, almost universally regarded as the greatest tennis player of all time.
And he picked up his new task of sheltering his family from the downpour of rain at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France when commentators remarked he was Williams‘ umbrella holder as Laura Woods failed to recognise him for Eurosport.
An expensive employee in that respect considering he is worth around $150,000,000, the American from New York, born to Armenian heritage, took it all in his stride and laughed it off.
This time he was caught holding an umbrella for Olympia, his seven-year-old daughter, and adeptly quipped, by posting the photo on his Instagram Stories, writing, “Umbrella holder.”
Family turns Ohanian’s life around
Ohanian has previously admitted to being unsure of his goal in life prior to meeting Williams and having a child with her, but since then he credits Olympia and his family for giving him his purpose.
Now you can see the Reddit tycoon involved in a plethora of initiatives, projects and business ventures and all of them go back to his aim of making sure his family has the best life possible – something he spoke a bit more about in Abu Dhabi.
“Olympia was in many ways my North Star,” Ohanian told the Forbes 3050. “And I said I want to keep building businesses and I want to be doing it in a way that I know I’m gonna be proud of.
“So that’s why I started 776, seeded it with $100 million of my own money and said I am going to use this to drive the best business outcomes in a way that I can brag to my daughters and grandkids about one day.”
