Alexis Ohanian, husband of tennis icon Serena Williams, recently shared a heartwarming parenting moment that revealed a playful side of family life as his relationship with Olympia continues to bloom.
While many adults might struggle to realize childhood fantasies, the Reddit co-founder found a perfect partner in his eldest daughter as he looks to check off his desire to recreate “Gladiator”.
Proudly owning a replica of Maximus’ helmet, a symbol of the character’s courage and strength, though it no longer fits his head, the business tycoon has been a longtime fan of the 2000 Russell Crowe film.
But rather than letting that disappointment get in the way, he found joy in sharing it with Olympia as the 42-year-old demonstrates his resourcefulness when it comes to his parenting style.
“Yes I own the helmet from Gladiator, and no it doesn’t fit on my giant head, but that’s what kids are for,” Ohanian wrote, posting a video of Olympia proudly wearing the helmet.
The moment captures the unique bond between father and daughter, where imagination and play allow family members to share in one another’s passions.
Whilst Serena is just as involved when it comes to her own dedication to family and parenting as the tennis legend frequently shares glimpses of life with her daughters; including introducing Adira to tennis while keeping her close during training sessions.
Williams has openly discussed the pride she takes in her approach to motherhood, emphasizing the multifaceted roles mothers play in their children’s lives as she looks to figure out just how hands-on she needs to be.
“I think I’m good at it,” Williams told Time.com. “But I want to explore if I can be great at it. I’m a wonderful mom.
“I think we, as women, don’t give ourselves credit, but I’m a great mom. I really am. I do everything. I’m freaking the room mom at Olympia’s school this year.”
Serena Williams’ ex coach reveals how Coco Gauff can take over tennis world
The legendary tennis coach, Rick Macci, recently weighed in on Coco Gauff‘s potential, suggesting the American star could dominate women’s tennis for years if she adjusts a single aspect of her game: her serve.
Gauff, a two-time Grand Slam champion with titles at the 2023 US Open and 2025 French Open, currently holds a career-high ranking of world No. 2 and has claimed 10 WTA Tour titles overall.
But the youngster struggles with her second serve, leading her to hit the most double faults on tour in 2024 and a troubling number again this season as she struggles to iron out that part of her game.
“Think about it,” Macci told Tennis365. “Her wide serve to the deuce court is one of the best in the world.
“But then in the same breath, we’re talking about she leads the WTA Tour in double faults. So there’s a disconnect.”
