Serena Williams‘ husband Alexis Ohanian has always embraced fatherhood with open arms, often describing how much his daughters, Olympia and Adira, have shaped his life.

The tech entrepreneur and husband to tennis legend Serena Williams once captured the internet’s heart with a photo of himself holding both girls. Now, in a new Instagram video featuring Olympia, he reflected on what it truly means to be a “girl dad.”

In the clip, Olympia notices her dad filming and asks, “Are you on video?” as Ohanian begins to share his thoughts on raising daughters. “Someone asked me what are some of your favorite parts about being a girl dad,” he said. Olympia quickly answered for him with a grin: “It’s fun.”

Discovering life through his daughters’ perspective

Ohanian smiled at her response and agreed without hesitation. “It’s the best! It is amazing because I get to see how the world is like through the eyes of little girls. It’s full of craziness and keeps me busy and active. My girls are so kind to me. They’ve always been so nice to me,” he explained, as the video cut to sweet moments of father-daughter time.

He then shared a playful thought about what it might be like raising boys instead.

“If I had boys, maybe they would be too, but I don’t know, possibly [not] be as sweet as my little girls are,” he admitted. Olympia wasted no time jumping in from the background with a firm, “No way,” sparking a laugh from her dad.

Parenting lessons that carry into business

For Ohanian, fatherhood hasn’t just shaped his personal life. He believes raising two daughters has made him more empathetic and even improved his approach as a businessman.

“I love being a girl dad, and it gives me more empathy,” he said, adding that even small moments teach him patience and negotiation.

He recalled a recent debate with Olympia over dessert. When she requested s’mores, he countered with pineapple and then water, neither of which impressed his determined daughter.

Eventually, they struck a deal for ice cream, but under strict conditions, “the littlest scoop” served in a cup instead of a cone. Whether Olympia kept to that agreement is anyone’s guess, but Ohanian‘s smile made it clear that winning wasn’t the point.
