The celebration of the Seattle Seahawks‘ second world title took a bizarre turn this Friday when a local fan discovered a significant manufacturing error on his official championship merchandise.
Norman William Kriedman III, a dedicated supporter of the franchise, shared a video on social media detailing the “dipsh**tery” he encountered after unboxing his commemorative headwear. The cap, produced by the well-known brand New Era Cap, was meant to honor the Seahawks‘ recent victory in Super Bowl LX.
However, while the front of the hat featured the iconic Seahawks hawk and the Super Bowl LX logo, the back of the garment was mistakenly adorned with the logo and name of the New England Patriots.
The error is particularly stinging for the Seattle faithful given the history between the two franchises. The Seahawks secured their championship earlier this month on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, defeating those very same Patriots in a 29-13 blowout.
Kriedman, who had ordered the hats in multiple sizes to ensure a perfect fit, expressed total disbelief at the quality control lapse.
“Got my champions hats in the mail today,” Kriedman said on Friday. “I ordered in two sizes to make sure I had the right fit. They canceled the other size. … Looks great. Except there is one problem (flips to show the Patriots logo). That is some dipshtery on another level. I have never seen some dumb st like that before.”
New Era Cap responds to the viral championship fail
The video quickly gained traction among NFL fans, prompting an official response from the manufacturer. New Era Cap, which serves as the official on-field headwear provider for the league, attempted to mitigate the situation in the comments section of the post.
“Oh no! We’re sorry to hear about the issue with your order. Can you please send us a private message with your order number and contact details?” the brand tweeted.
The blunder serves as a rare blemish on what has otherwise been a month of euphoria for a city that waited over a decade to return to the summit of the football world.
The Seahawks‘ path to this title was a testament to the rapid culture shift under second-year head coach Mike Macdonald. After a 10-7 campaign in 2024 that saw the team miss the postseason, Macdonald orchestrated a defensive masterclass in 2025 that many analysts have compared to the legendary Legion of Boom era.
