Hazing is a classic tradition in the NFL, as in most sports, with rookies often falling victim to hilarious pranks. Football players are known for their hefty paychecks, which allow them to enjoy the finer things in life-like splurging on an expensive dinner-without worrying about the bill. Now, imagine combining money with pranks to create a truly nerve-wracking moment for a rookie.

This time, the Seattle Seahawks stole the spotlight with a viral prank on Byron Murphy II. After a fancy night out at an upscale restaurant, Murphy was hit with a jaw-dropping “bill” totaling $155,788.77. His stunned reaction, frozen in disbelief at the absurd number of digits, lit up social media, leaving fans buzzing about the joke.

The prank that was almost too realistic

The Seahawks players definitely thought they were pulling off a legendary prank on rookie Byron Murphy II, who nearly fainted when he saw the bill, frozen in shock with his eyes wide open. But the real noise came from fans on Twitter, who were quick to point out that the prank would’ve been hilarious if the bill had been realistic-and if the Seahawks had actually made it to the playoffs.

Fans weren’t holding back, blasting the players for having a cushy job that lets them live the high life on their salaries. To them, if a season doesn’t go well, it’s just an early vacation-no big deal, as long as the money keeps rolling in.

When the real bill was revealed, Twitter users were left in disbelief, still shocked that it totaled $38,015.82. For Bryon, it was a huge sigh of relief to see the digits drop dramatically. But the fans were still stunned, realizing that the actual bill cost the same as leasing an Audi A3.

The real bill stuns fans

It’s these moments that make you question whether life really is all about balance. While everyone in the video was laughing their heads off-except for the rookie, of course-behind the screens, people were left in disbelief, stunned that pranks like this even exist and that some find them funny.

People have a hard time wrapping their heads around how a dinner could rack up such a massive bill, but the Seahawks clearly know how to take it to the next level. According to Yahoo Sports, some of the priciest items on the bill included $9,600 for eight pours of D’Usse 1969 cognac and $8,050 for 23 pours of Louis XIII cognac. Then there were the A5 Wagyu steaks (most of us would be happy with a basic cut), and of course, the meal wouldn’t be complete without some caviar to really drive up the cost. Given that Murphy is on a $16 million rookie deal, he probably would’ve preferred a lower-tier restaurant that offers delicious food without having to splurge to awkwardly invite all of his teammates.
