It’s deja vu all over again: the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will meet in Super Bowl LIX to determine the champion of the 2024 NFL season. These same two teams met in Super Bowl LVII in the final game of the 2022 NFL campaign, and the Chiefs emerged victorious after rallying from a 10-point halftime deficit at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

But not only has this Super Bowl meeting’s location been changed from the desert to the “Big Easy“, the Eagles have added elite running back Saquon Barkley to the mix in their bid to dethrone the Chiefs and ruin Kansas City‘s three-peat hopes. As Barkley prepares to play in the first Super Bowl of his career inside New OrleansCaesars Superdome on Feb. 9, the former New York Giant is soaking up every inch of the limelight and is clearly feeling good about his new team’s chances.

Barkley sends a six-word warning to the Chiefs

Barkley gave an interview to SiriusXM NFL Radio in the wake of the Eagles’ dominant NFC title game victory over the Washington Commanders, a 55-23 win in which Barkley rushed for 118 yards and three touchdowns — including a bruising 60-yard touchdown run on Philadelphia‘s first play from scrimmage.

After eliminating the Commanders, Barkley has set his gaze firmly on the Chiefs. And with Philly playing its best ball of the season, the 27-year-old is ready to bulldoze through Kansas City’s talented defensive front.

Whoever plays us next,” he said, “good luck.”

Since joining the Eagles as a free agent, Barkley has enjoyed a renaissance, putting together the best season of his career in 2024. He led the NFL with 2,005 rushing yards and 2,283 yards from scrimmage; Barkley has taken his game to another level in the playoffs, with 442 yards and five rushing touchdowns in only three games.

But the Chiefs won’t necessarily fear Barkley, and “good luck” has been a theme of this season for Kansas City. The magic of Patrick Mahomes endures; the Chiefs have a perfect 12-0 record this season in games decided by eight points or fewer, and they have won 17 consecutive one-score games dating to the 2023 regular season.

In addition, Kansas City’s run defense could attack Barkley in ways that the Eagles’ offensive line has not seen in 2024, setting the stage for a dramatic Super Bowl that will see one side make history — and one side wonder what might have been.
