Shohei Ohtani‘s home run drought ended on Tuesday in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 15-2 thrashing of the Miami Marlins, but it was not only special because it was the first since he made his debut as a father, it also came surrounded by an anecdote that will remain to be told to his children.

It was Dodgers Women’s Night, so the organization let the players’ partners choose the songs that each player walks up to the plate to.

And Ohtani confessed that his wife Mamiko Tanaka chose “Moonlight Densetsu”, by DALI and Manish, the opening song of the anime Sailor Moon, which ended up becoming the magic touch he needed to regain his aim and send the ball to the other side of the fence.

The lyrics of the song talk about unique powers to fight evil, so Mamiko could not choose a better theme to motivate Shohei, who hit a home run to tie the game and detonate what would be a thrashing.

Ohtani welcomes Sandy Alcantara

In recent days, Sandy Alcantara‘s name has emerged as an option to solve the Dodgers‘ injury problem, specifically in the wake of the recent loss of Tyler Glasnow, but on his visit to Los Angeles, the Dominican was punished and took seven runs from what could be his future teammates.

The person in charge of welcoming him was Shohei Ohtani, who not only hit his first home run since becoming a father, but did not wait long and sent the first pitch from Alcantara over the wall. The game was tied, then the Dodgers would turn it around 3-1, to take a lead that would increase.

“It was a good home run to get back on the scoreboard in this game,” Ohtani said after the game, adding: “I hadn’t hit one since I became a father, so it’s very rewarding to be able to do that.”

The Dodgers’ night culminated with 18 hits, Ohtani went 4-2, with two runs scored, while the offense was led by Teoscar Hernandez, who went 5-4, with four RBIs, to move to the top of the MLB with 31.
