Speculation surrounding Deion Sanders’ potential return to the Dallas Cowboys as head coach has gained traction.

Reports from NFL insiders, including Adam Schefter, suggest “mutual interest” between Sanders and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.
While no formal interview has been scheduled, conversations between the two parties are ongoing, leaving fans buzzing about the possibility of Sanders returning to the team he helped lead to a Super Bowl in 1995.
Griffin III, who first floated the idea of Sanders coaching Dallas last year, reiterated his stance on social media Monday.
“Deion Sanders should be the next Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys,” Griffin posted on X.
“I saw what Coach Prime was building at Colorado and when you know, you know. The Cowboys need Deion Sanders, but he doesn’t need them.”
Sanders continues to flirt with the NFL
Sanders, currently the head coach at the University of Colorado, has revitalized the Buffaloes’ football program, leading them to a 9-4 record in 2024 and producing a Heisman Trophy winner in Travis Hunter.
Despite his success in Boulder, Sanders acknowledged the intrigue of a potential NFL coaching opportunity.
“To hear from Jerry Jones is truly delightful,” Sanders told ESPN.
“It’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything there is about our team, the coaches, our student body, and the community.”
While Sanders’ ties to Dallas and his larger-than-life persona make him a compelling candidate, several obstacles could hinder a deal.
One significant hurdle is Sanders’ insistence on coaching his sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, who are currently standout players at Colorado.
The Cowboys’ draft position and quarterback situation, including Dak Prescott’s massive contract, complicate the feasibility of adding Shedeur to the roster.
As Jones continues his search for a new head coach following Mike McCarthy’s departure, the idea of “Prime Time” leading America’s Team remains tantalizing yet uncertain.
