The Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones are on the hunt for a new head coach following the departure of Mike McCarthy, and among the candidates mentioned, two stand out as favorites: Robert Saleh and Deion Sanders.

With Saleh, they will request an interview and will be the third team to talk to the former New York Jets coach, after the Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders, while with Sanders, it is known that Jones already held a telephone conversation, but there is a special condition for which he would be willing to leave his position in the Colorado Buffaloes and venture into the NFL.

Former quarterback Robert Griffin III, who is a close friend of Deion Sanders, revealed a chat with Coach Prime during his appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, when asked if it was a real story about the approach with the Cowboys.

“I talked to Deion and months ago he knew that the only way he would get to the NFL was if he had the opportunity to coach his kids, and he has been very firm about that recently. It wasn’t information that I could share at the time,” Griffin III said of what his friend plans with Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders. “I don’t think he’s going to the NFL just to be an NFL coach, and he doesn’t want to chase his kids. He prepares them to be in a position where they can be drafted in the top spots.”

Cowboys would have to sacrifice Dak Prescott

The Cowboys have the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, so in order to fulfill Deion Sanders‘ request and recruit Shedeur, they would have to start a negotiating machinery in which they get a trade to climb at least to be within the top five and sacrifice Dak Prescott, to use him as a bargaining chip

Sanders expressed his gratitude for Jones‘ interest during a recent statement to ESPN, while he has expressed that he feels a strong connection to the Colorado community, he has also made it clear that he would only consider coaching in the NFL if he were to go to coach his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, at the next level.

“You know what? The only way I would consider coaching in the NFL would be to coach my kids,” Sanders told Good Morning America 3.
