The Las Vegas Raiders have spent most of this week trying to calm rumors that their defensive cornerstone, Maxx Crosby, might be headed out the door. Talk of a Dallas Cowboys trade exploded on Tuesday and quickly took over social media. The Raiders moved to shut it down, but the idea of Crosby in a star-spangled helmet has been hard for fans to ignore.
Rob Gronkowski certainly didn’t ignore it. The former Patriots and Buccaneers tight end shared his thoughts Wednesday on The Up and Adams Show, and his message was loud and clear.
“I really liked that Max Crosby re-signed with the Raiders because you don’t see that kind of loyalty much anymore,” Gronkowski said. “But this guy needs a chance to win a Super Bowl. He’s playing at such a high level. Dallas would be the perfect place for him.”
Las Vegas sits at 2-5 after being shut out 31-0 by the Chiefs in Week 7. The optimism that surrounded Crosby’s long-term deal has faded fast, and Gronkowski believes it might be time for a new chapter.
Gronkowski: “This guy needs a chance to win a Super Bowl”
Gronkowski didn’t stop there. He said the Cowboys should consider making a move for Crosby, especially after trading Micah Parsons to Green Bay before the season.
Now they’re seeing the hole they have on defense… Can they fill it with Max Crosby and even save money? That’s a win-win
The numbers make it possible. Crosby carries a cap hit of about $38 million this season, but the Raiders could save close to $50 million over the next two years if they traded him. Dallas has the assets too, including two projected first-round picks in 2026, currently slotted around 12th and 29th overall.
FormerESPN broadcaster Trey Wingo first reported that Dallas had inquired about Crosby, but Cowboys insider Clarence Hill Jr. said no talks had taken place. However, longtime analyst Bryan Broaddus pointed out that similar denials came before the Parsons trade. “They said they wouldn’t move him, and then they did,” Broaddus noted on Crown Global Media.
The Cowboys are 3-3-1 and sitting second in the NFC East. They could use a spark on defense, and Gronkowski’s comments have thrown gasoline on a rumor that refuses to fade. For now, Crosby remains the heartbeat of a struggling Raiders team. But if Dallas calls again, the temptation to chase a Super Bowl ring might be too strong to ignore.
