Super Bowl LVII, held in 2023, was not only important for the Kansas City Chiefs, but also historic for the NFL: for the first time, two brothers faced each other on the field.

Travis Kelce, TE for the Chiefs, and Jason Kelce, center for the Philadelphia Eagles, were looking to win a new Vince Lombardi, but only one of them would succeed. Their entire family was present, but it was Donna, their mother, who stole the show.

Donna revealed what happened to that outfit.

The outfit chosen by the mother of the two NFL stars did not go unnoticed by any fan of the league. Her half-Chiefs, half-Eagles jersey was a clear symbol of her equal support for both sons, and it was iconic.

After the game, which ended in a 38-35 victory for Kansas City, she comforted Jason with her motherly love and celebrated Travis‘ new achievement. And to this day, that T-shirt lives on in the memories of fans. But what happened to it?

While on the red carpet at the special screening of ESPN’s Chiefs docuseries “The Kingdom” on Sunday, Donna revealed to PEOPLE what became of that outfit.

During the conversation, the 72-year-old revealed that, like several of the Kansas City players, she was unaware of the existence of the “secret tunnels,” known as SubTropolis. There, artifacts of great value to the franchise are preserved in 270-million-year-old limestone caves, 150 feet underground.

Even Travis has one of them to store items that marked his career. Donna was asked if she would donate the famous jersey to her son’s archive, and she did not object to the idea. However, she said she would not do so yet. “I’ll hang on to it for just a little bit longer,” she said. “He’s the one who bought it for me! So that’s awesome,” added the Kelce mother.

And although it is unknown how long she will keep it, Donna assured that when she decides to part with the legendary jersey, she would add an emotional and special detail: “Maybe just a note to say that ‘I’m just so glad that you reached your goals,’” she sweetly said.

She also said that, no matter how many years go by, she continues to be amazed by her youngest son’s performance and talent, and seeing him again in the series confirms it: “Oh man. Just that he’s sure of himself,” the proud mom said. “He’s a hard worker. He’s a community person. I really think that whatever he does, he puts his whole heart and soul into it, and those are the things I like about him the most.”

Now, Travis and the Chiefs are preparing for a new NFL season, the TE’s thirteenth. The Los Angeles Chargers will be the team’s first opponent, and they will travel internationally to Corinthians Arena in Brazil to open their season on September 5.
