Randi Mahomes, mother of the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes, says she treats Taylor Swift just like family as she chooses to view the pop star beyond her fame.
Known for her humility and grounded nature, Randi revealed how she has welcomed the Grammy-winning artist with open arms – despite not being directly involved in her own household.
“She’s very nice, very genuine, knowing what I see from what I’ve learned and gotten to know,” Randi said in a video shared on X.com, formerly Twitter. “I just knew from day one that I did meet her.
“It’s kind of hard for me to look at Patrick because he’s my son, to know that people get excited about meeting him, and it’s still like, ‘Okay, you’re still my son. I don’t look at you that way.’
“And so I wanted to be able to treat Taylor or anyone else who came involved like just as normal as I would treat or be with anybody.”
For Randi, the lesson is clear – fame should never change how one treats others, and her warmth toward Taylor reflects the same approach she’s taken with Patrick and the people closest to him.
Swift is close with the quarterback through her relationship with the team’s tight end, Travis Kelce, to whom she became engaged in August after two years of dating the NFL veteran.
That same sense of inclusion extends to another important figure in Randi‘s life – Brittany Mahomes. Reflecting on their long bond, Randi described Brittany as more than just her son’s wife.
Initially, Randi saw Brittany as one of Patrick‘s high school friends, but over time, their bond deepened into a mother-daughter relationship as Brittany became an integral part of the family and mother to Randi‘s three grandchildren.
“I think he was a sophomore or junior; it was all in,” Randi continued. “And I say she’s been around since my daughter was two, so 14 years she’s been around.
“She’s like a daughter to me. I’ve kind of helped, maybe not raise her, but she grew up with Patrick and was always around. We’ve always been very close,”

And Randi emphasized that Taylor‘s sincerity has made her presence in their lives feel effortless.
This is something that has made welcoming the 35-year-old Eras Tour sensation into the family even easier, with a surprising humulity.
“And she’s been the perfect,” Randi added. “Sweet person who has embraced my family, my children, my grandkids.
“And so I mean I could not love her, but I know I definitely had taught myself and said I’m just going to be the same, and I want to treat her the way Patrick wants to be treated.
“Just normal and not have to feel any type of way.”
