The baseball world was stunned on the night of April 30, 2025, when a Pittsburgh Pirates fan named Kavan Markwood fell more than 21 feet over the right field wall at PNC Park onto the field.

“I don’t know how I’m alive. I wake up in pain every day. My arm, I can’t feel my two fingers yet. I’m better than I was, that’s for sure. It feels terrible. It wasn’t his fault (friend who bought him two beers). Tragic accident,” Kavan Markwood said after watching the video of his fall from the stands.

Kavan Markwood returned to PNC Park for the first time since the accident. But he warned that the next time he goes to a game there, he won’t be so high up in the stands, he said.
