The New York Mets family is about to grow with the arrival of Pete Alonso‘s next baby, who, together with his wife Haley, announced on April 5 that he was on the way, but on Sunday they revealed the gender.
A few days ago, Bryce Harper got creative to announce that his fourth child would be a boy and with his Philadelphia Phillies teammate Trea Turner as an accomplice, he handed him a blue bat to use in his first at-bat in a game against the San Francisco Giants to announce the news.
Now, the Mets first baseman and his wife did not want to be left behind and in an original way they unveiled the gender through a post on their Instagram account with two photos, the first in black and white, the second in color and you just had to move to the next image to see the color of a garment that gave the answer.
“Baby Alonso is a…”, they captioned the post along with some heart emojis with the two options, as well as a butterfly and a flower, to give way to the image in which the garment appears in blue with a rabbit, to give context because it was Easter Sunday, to inform that their first child will be a boy.
The wives of other Mets players reacted to the post, one of the comments was from Ashley, partner of Carlos Rodon: “Oh my God! Congratulations!; then followed Katia (Francisco Lindor): “Baby boy 2025”, along with two blue hearts; also joined Anna Hardee (AJ Minter): “The baby is already very loved”.
When the couple announced they were expecting a baby, they did so with a series of photos with the ultrasound and the message: “Baby Alonso 2025, we can’t wait for this next chapter of becoming mom and dad.”
A love born in Cape Cod
Pete and Haley met in 2015, when Alonso was playing summer baseball in the Cape Cod League. At the time, Pete was attending the University of Florida and Haley was attending Michigan State University. Despite the distance, they started a long-distance relationship that they both valued deeply.
“I just couldn’t get enough of her,” Pete Alonso said in an interview with ESPN in 2020. “For me, she was the one.”
The couple got engaged in November 2018 and married in Tampa, Florida, in 2021. In a post-wedding post, Haley wrote: “For all the days of my life,” while Pete described the day as “without a doubt the best day of my life.”
When celebrating their first anniversary in 2022, Haley shared an emotional photo from their ceremony. Pete responded with a loving note: “The most memorable and special day of my life,” expressing how lucky he felt to be her husband.
Now, with their first baby on the way, Pete and Haley are excitedly preparing to start a new chapter together.
