It was revealed how pitcher Paul Skenes escaped from his worst outing in his career so far in MLB.

The right-hander is considered one of the best pitchers currently in Major League Baseball.

How Paul Skenes escaped his worst outing in MLB

Don Kelly, the Pittsburgh Pirates manager, explained how Paul Skenes used his pitching skills and instincts to get out of tough situations on the mound, even after allowing a record number of hits (seven) in a dominant victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

“He has that talent. He has elite stuff, but when he gets into trouble, he’s able to turn to a lot of different things to get out of the inning, to be able to get strikeouts or induce double plays. He has that pitcher’s feel. He has powerful stuff, but he’s a pitcher, and he’s able to use it to induce a double play or go for the strikeout when he needs it. There’s not many like him,” Pittsburgh Pirates manager Don Kelly said.

Will the Pittsburgh Pirates build a competitive team around Paul Skenes?

While Paul Skenes‘ individual performances have been exceptional, the Pirates as a team have struggled to generate enough offensive support. The National League remains highly competitive, and without a stronger lineup, the team’s chances of competing are limited.

After the dismissal of Derek Shelton, Don Kelly’s tenure as manager has not yielded significant results, and the organization is expected to seek changes in direction this offseason. Questions remain about the team’s ability to effectively capitalize on offseason moves.
