Forget the home runs and strikeouts, the real highlight of Tuesday’s MLB All-Star Game red carpet was a moment so charming, it could have been ripped straight from a fairy tale!
Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, a meteoric sensation in the league, proved he’s not just a flamethrower on the mound but also a real-life Prince Charming, going viral for a delightful gesture towards his girlfriend, social media star and former LSU gymnast Olivia “Livvy” Dunne.
Amidst the chaos of screaming fans, flashing cameras, and bustling media, Skenes didn’t hesitate when Livvy’s high heel came undone. With effortless chivalry, he dropped to one knee and meticulously re-tied her shoe, looking every bit the modern-day Prince Charming to her Cinderella.
The moment was instantly captured, cementing their status as one of sports’ most beloved power couples.
Livvy couldn’t be more proud of Paul
Later, as the dazzling duo made their way to the MLB Network’s red carpet pre-show – which felt more like E! covering the Oscars – they rattled off the various designers and stylists behind their outfits (which, let’s be honest, were probably lost on most of us, but they looked fantastic!).
When Livvy was asked about her beau’s evolving style, she playfully dished. “I think that [your] style has progressively gotten better and drippier, so I’ve been having trust in you lately,” the former LSU gymnast told her boyfriend, a compliment Skenes cleverly parried with a chuckle: “Well, the bar was pretty low before.”
Skenes, who’s been an MLB force for only 14 months, has already become a cornerstone of the league, skyrocketing from an LSU national champion and No. 1 overall pick to a two-time All-Star.
Alongside him, for much of this incredible ride, has been the ever-proud Livvy Dunne. “He’s doing everything right,” she shared. “People see the results. I see the grind.”
Skenes’s manual for winning the girl of your dreams
And for all you hopeful romantics out there, while Livvy probably isn’t going to date you, Paul Skenes just dropped the ultimate tutorial on how to potentially land your own version of “Cinderella” Dunne.
The secret? Apparently, it involves throwing 102 mph, being the Pirates rising star, National League Rookie of the Year, maybe having fighter jet pilot aspirations, possessing semi-straight teeth, and most importantly, never being afraid to show a little chivalry, even when the whole world is watching!
