In an interview, Paul Skenes surprised the audience after declaring that he feared for the lives of the fans when his teammate Oneil Cruz was batting. The power of the Dominican Republic baseball player sometimes exceeded the limits of reasonableness.

Skenes and the genuine concern when his teammate was batting

Skenes recalled a hit that reached a speed of 123 mph, “Good thing it went to the river,” joked the current Pirates pitcher. The interviewer mentioned that Ohtani had reached shots of up to 118 mph, to which Skenes responded: “Cruz is something else, his numbers are on another level, it’s dangerous.”

He also noted: “As long as I don’t get Cruz’s hits coming my way in the middle of the game, that’s a win for me,”. The Dominican’s power and technique is something that scares even the most experienced pitchers.“When Cruz hits and does it like that, there’s a 100% chance that nobody’s going to stop that shot, it’s a safe run,” Skenes continued joking. Certainly, having Oneil Cruz in front of you is something that few baseball players want.

Oneil Cruz, a unique prototype in MLB
