Not everything is always perfect, and the 2025 NFL season turned out to be the worst in Patrick Mahomes’ successful career. Mahomes has appeared in five Super Bowls, won three of them, and had consistently made the playoffs. However, the recently concluded season was tragic both for him and the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs faced a reality check. The NFL is the most competitive sports league in the world, and in the AFC West, both the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Chargers-with promising projects-made a strong statement, taking control of the division. Particularly the Broncos, who were the top seed in the AFC.

Although the Chiefs reached the Super Bowl in 2024, their offense had been showing signs of stagnation. The blow came in 2025, when they finished 21st in the NFL-something unacceptable in the Patrick Mahomes era. For the first time since 2016, they lost the division, and for the first time since 2014, they missed the playoffs.

Patrick Mahomes is giving 100% to his rehabilitation

The Kansas City Chiefs’ season was filled with uncertainty, mainly because they couldn’t match the level shown in previous years. When things were falling apart, the final blow came with Patrick Mahomes’ painful injury. In Week 14 against the Chargers, Mahomes suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.

Reports on his rehab indicate that Mahomes is fully focused. Not only is he expected to be ready for Week 1, but he will also enjoy Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding:

“I believe Patrick Mahomes is gonna be dancing at Travis Kelce’s wedding and is gonna be starting for the Chiefs in Week 1, and so I will go with the over for now, all of a sudden, hunters,” said Nick Wright on First Things First.

This comment referred to the projected number of wins for the Kansas City Chiefs next season, which is set at an over/under of 10.5. While projections for the Chiefs’ wins are positive, the Los Angeles Chargers are still considered the favorites to win the division. However, a hungry Patrick Mahomes should not be underestimated next season.

Additionally, the Chiefs will have a high pick in the upcoming draft, selecting ninth overall. Rumors suggest they could target a top offensive talent, such as Carnell Tate from Ohio State or Jordan Tyson from Arizona State, giving Mahomes a premium receiver to elevate the offense.
