Next Sunday, February 9, at the Caesars Superdome, Super Bowl LIX will take place, where there will be a rematch when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

In this matchup, two quarterbacks who already have a history in the big game will meet again, Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts, two players who have become a guarantee for their respective teams.

Jalen Hurts and his chance for revenge

Emanating from the ranks of the Oklahoma Sooners, Hurts joined the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 draft, and little by little he changed the face of Philadelphia, which left behind the glory days of Nick Foles.

Patrick Mahomes and his knack for returning to the Super Bowl

After his time with the Texas Red Raiders in the NCAA, Mahomes arrived in Kansas City in 2017, where he has gradually become not only the Chiefs’ star player, but also an on-field leader who is guiding Kansas City to become a dynasty of the era.

In the 2024 regular season, Mahomes completed 67.1% of his passes, accumulating 5,250 passing yards, 41 touchdowns and 12 interceptions, leading the Chiefs to be the top seed in the AFC.

In the postseason, Mahomes has been instrumental in leading the Chiefs to their third straight Super Bowl and four in the last five years. In addition to his throwing ability, Mahomes has proven to be a threat on the ground, scoring two rushing touchdowns in the recent AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills.

Super Bowl experience

For Super Bowl LIX, Mahomes’ experience may weigh more heavily on Hurts’.

In the four Super Bowls Mahomes has appeared in, the quarterback has a 61% passing percentage, which has translated into 106 yards and five touchdowns against four interceptions.

While Hurts in the big game completed 27 of 38 passes, to run for 304 yards and collaborate with four touchdowns, one rushing and three passing.
