Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, talked about the unforgettable moment of the birth of his third child, daughter Golden Raye.
As his wife, Brittany, gave birth on January 12, Mahomes managed to sneak in some football time, watching NFL playoff games in the hospital.
Brittany and Patrick, who already have two children – three-year-old Sterling and two-year-old Bronze – had announced in July that they were expecting another child. Golden Raye’s arrival came at a perfect time for Mahomes, as the Chiefs had a bye in the first round of the playoffs, allowing him to be by his wife’s side for the birth.

A special family moment
In an interview ahead of the Chiefs’ divisional round showdown against the Houston Texans, Mahomes reflected on the joy of welcoming another daughter into the family.
“It’s been cool. Brittany crushed it. It was cool to see our other kids’ reactions to having a baby sister,” he shared.
Though the birth was a momentous occasion, Mahomes couldn’t completely disconnect from football.
“Brittany was kind enough to let us watch football while she was getting ready to give birth,” he said, proving that football remains a central part of his life-even during such a significant family event.
Patrick and Brittany’s relationship has been a long one. High school sweethearts, the couple began dating in 2012 and attended prom together. After Mahomes’ Super Bowl win in 2020, the couple got engaged, later marrying in a beautiful Hawaiian ceremony in March 2022, shortly after the birth of their first daughter, Sterling.
Now, with their growing family, Brittany shared a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a photo of her and Patrick’s hands above their newborn daughter’s feet, accompanied by a sign displaying Golden Raye’s name.
As the Chiefs gear up for their playoff run with a potential third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, Mahomes’ time with his family during this break shows his commitment both to his career and to his loved ones. Reflecting on parenthood,
“I’m good with three for right now. We’ll see down the line maybe. My goal was always three.”
Fans will undoubtedly be watching Mahomes’ journey as he balances the demands of football with the joys of fatherhood, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the Mahomes family with the birth of Golden Raye.
