Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are working hard ahead of the 2025-26 NFL season, knowing that improvements have to be made if they are to recapture the Super Bowl.
There are only a few days to go until the first day of the Chiefs‘ offseason workout program, but star quarterback Mahomes has already been gathering some of the guys for a throwing session.
In Texas, almost a dozen of his teammates gathered nine days ago for a big throwing session before the official training camp begins. There were plenty of new faces there too, meaning it was a great bonding experience for them before the hard work really begins.
The Chiefs players were captured by photographer Heather Smith and she shared a gallery that featured Mahomes, Nikko Remigio, Skyy Moore, Xavier Worthy, Isiah Pacheco, Noah Gray, Chris Oladokun, and Bailey Zappe.
There is a lot of focus on Pacheco as he is coming back from a year off due to a serious leg injury. He was not able to make anywhere close to the impact he would have expected in 2024, so fans will be hoping for a big year.
Travis Kelce not involved
One major name who was not involved is Travis Kelce, with the tight end still taking time to himself ahead of the new season.
This season could be Travis Kelce‘s last. At age 36, the future Hall of Fame tight end is nearing the end of a legendary career that has redefined the position and helped power the Chiefs to three Super Bowl championships.
Though he opted to return for one more season, all signs point to a looming transition in Kansas City and ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. believes the Chiefs may already have their eyes on the next man up.
In his latest mock draft, Kiper projected that the Chiefs will select Harold Fannin Jr., a tight end who took the college football world by storm in 2024.
“Fannin led the nation in receiving last season with 1,555 yards,” Kiper wrote. “Kansas City could use him in a multitude of ways, and he could even develop into Travis Kelce’s eventual replacement.”
