Patrick Mahomes is known for rewriting football history, but the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback is also building a reputation in another sport-golf. Despite his roots in baseball, Mahomes has developed a strong passion for the sport, turning it into a family activity and a charitable endeavor. His love for golf has become so ingrained in his life that he now hosts events such as the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation golf tournament at the prestigious Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas.

For Mahomes, golf is more than a pastime-it’s a way to connect with family. His father, Pat Mahomes Sr., who is currently on probation, went to court to request permission to attend his son’s charity tournament. The request was granted, allowing him to be present for the event, reinforcing the significance of golf as a shared experience for the Mahomes family.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are making an unexpected appearance in professional golf-thanks to Ross Steelman, a Korn Ferry Tour competitor. With no official hat sponsor, Steelman has been wearing a bright red Chiefs cap throughout his tournaments. “I don’t have a hat contract this year, so I’ve worn the Chiefs hat a lot,” Steelman told KSHB’s Matt Foster. “I think I’ve worn it pretty much every tournament.”

The support has been felt

Steelman’s decision to sport the Chiefs cap seemed like a casual choice at first, but as the Korn Ferry Tour approaches Kansas City, it feels more intentional. During the Super Bowl week in Bogota, Steelman wore the hat, sparking discussion among his playing partners. Now, just 20 minutes from Arrowhead Stadium, he anticipates a more enthusiastic response. “Just being 20 minutes from Arrowhead, it’ll be fun. I hope to hear a lot of M-I-Zs and Go Chiefs out there this week,” he said.

While the Chiefs hat might just be a personal nod to Kansas City, it raises speculation-could Mahomes himself take notice? The quarterback’s influence in Kansas City is undeniable, and if he spots Steelman representing the Chiefs brand, a sponsorship deal or endorsement could be a possibility.

Mahomes’ impact continues to extend beyond the football field. Whether through his philanthropic efforts in golf or an unexpected presence on the Korn Ferry Tour, his connection to sports remains dynamic. As Steelman competes under the Chiefs banner, the quarterback’s influence is felt in more ways than one.
