It’s hard to imagine that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have forgotten the painful loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, a defeat that may have been even more regrettable after achieving a 15-2 season.

Now, the Eagles are capitalizing on this hype to motivate their team with an image of Mahomes being overwhelmed by one of their defensive players.

The Eagles mock Mahomes and use him as motivation

Circulating online is a photograph of a mural created by the team that won the last Super Bowl, depicting several players from that clash in New Orleans, with a Patrick Mahomes completely dominated.

In one of the first images, Mahomes can be seen being overpowered by Jalen Carter, who gets to the Eagles’ QB and takes him down.

This mural will undoubtedly be utterly humiliating for more than a few Chiefs fans, and for Mahomes as well…

Patrick Mahomes recalls the painful Super Bowl LIX

The NFL‘s star quarterback made this clear during a statement to local media, his first comments since the debacle in New Orleans.

“You have that bad taste in your mouth from the last time you stepped on the football field, and you have to hear about it all offseason,” he told reporters. “It gives you the push that you want to go out there and be better and show what we’re really about.”

“If you look at the only real positive I think from the Super Bowl, it was the second half-me just kind of getting back to, ‘We’ve got to throw the ball deep,'” he added.

“There were opportunities in games for deep shots that I either didn’t take or we missed barely. If we can get back to hitting some of those throws, we tried to preach about this last offseason, it opens up the rest of the offense.”

The Chiefs’ offense was practically humiliated by the Eagles’ defense. In that game, Andy Reid’s team managed only one first down in the entire first half and didn’t score a single point before halftime.

Mahomes threw two interceptions, including one that was returned for a touchdown, which we could say set the tone for the game.
