Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is going to have an opportunity to make history Sunday when he plays Super Bowl LIX as the defending champions Kansas City Chiefs match against the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
If Mahomes leads the Chiefs to victory, he will be part of the first team in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a row. He’s going to have iconic tight end Travis Kelce, sensational defensive tackle Chris Jones and one of the best head coaches in the league, Andy Reid, on his side.
The Chiefs are going for history. The Eagles, meanwhile, have redemption in mind. Super Bowl LIX is a rematch of the championship classic from two years ago, won by Kansas City with a brilliant second half comeback 38-35 in one of the best championship games in the last decade.

Mahomes gets a special message from family and friends
Adidas – the brand that sponsors Mahomes – posted a video on social media where we see some of Patrick’s biggest fans wishing the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback good luck for Super Bowl LIX. The video starts with some words from NBA superstar Anthony Edwards.
“Hey, Pat Mahomes, congrats again, man, make it happen!” the Minnesota Timberwolves guard says. Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman, comedian Rob Riggle, legendary DJ Rev Run, tennis sensation Alexander Zverev,Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury and Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodríguez also showed up in the video.
His dad, Pat Mahomes, as well as his wife Brittany Mahomes and two of his children, Sterling Skye and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, also send some words of good luck to the Chiefs quarterback. “We love you so much and we cannot wait to watch you play in this big game.” Brittany mentions.
The people that pop up in the video wish Mahomes nothing but the best for Super Bowl LIX and some even mention the fact that Patrick could become the greatest of all time if he gets the three-peat.
Mahomes-Kelce magic must be in peak form
If the Chiefs want to make history Sunday they are going to have to rely on a winning formula: the Patrick Mahomes–Travis Kelce special bond. They were content to win a lot of close games this season where the offense did just enough and the defense and special teams did a lot of the heavy lifting. That has started to shift a bit as the season has wound to a close.
Patrick took over against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC title game, playing one of his most complete games of the season. He has started using his legs to get him loose as a runner and opening up more possibilities as a passer. Mahomes also has limited his turnovers significantly, fumbling last week for his first giveaway in a game since mid-November.
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce was held in check against the Bills, but his Super Bowl track record is impeccable, catching 31 passes for 350 yards and two scores in his four prior championship appearances. Where he’s most dangerous is finding and creating space when Mahomes goes into scramble mode. There are few better pairs in league history at creating advantages on the fly.
