At no point in the modern history of the NFL has a team won the Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons — but the Kansas City Chiefs are just two wins away from becoming the first.
The task facing the Chiefs will not be easy though; they have to take down Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, with Allen and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes set for a second AFC title game duel since the 2020 season. As the two signal-callers prep for the fourth playoff meeting this decade, Mahomes and Allen are each seeking any and every marginal advantage they can muster.

Mahomes wants more noise in the AFC title game
The Chiefs have one of the great “home field advantages” not just in the NFL, but in the sports world. It isn’t often that the champs go down at Arrowhead Stadium, often cited as the loudest stadium in the NFL; the Chiefs are 9-0 in Kansas City this season, and to get to a perfect 10, Mahomes has issued a rallying cry to the more than 70,000 fans expected to attend Sunday’s game.
“Chiefs Kingdom, they’re always passionate, they’re always loud,” Mahomes said Thursday. “I would just say, let’s see them take it up a notch. Let’s see how loud this place can really get.”
The Chiefs’ last home playoff loss took place nearly three calendar years ago, when Joe Burrow and the upstart Cincinnati Bengals upset Mahomes and company in the 2021 AFC Championship Game. Since then, the Chiefs have won all four of their home playoff games — and the Bills have lost their previous two postseason visits to Arrowhead.
Mahomes has previously referred to Arrowhead as “a special place” that motivates the Chiefs to play their best football whenever they step on the field. They will need nothing short of their best to take down Buffalo on Sunday, as Kansas City eyes a trip to New Orleans to play in Super Bowl LIX.
“I always appreciate the support and the love that (Chiefs fans) show for us, and so I’m just excited for another AFC Championship game back in Arrowhead,” Mahomes concluded Thursday.
