In the NFL, the importance of having a quality backup quarterback is extremely important. Even though the Kansas City Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl winner, they have decided to sign Gardner Minshew from the Las Vegas Raiders as a backup.

Minshew has become a media figure in the NFL due to his style, and in his previous teams-Jacksonville Jaguars, Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and Las Vegas Raiders-he has had important and even fun moments during different stages of the seasons.

The new backup for the Chiefs has earned an important role within the NFL, and while there is no doubt that Patrick Mahomes is the team’s starter, Andy Reid’s squad has hired a player with a lot of experience at the quarterback position.

Minshew was with the Las Vegas Raiders last season, and in Week 12, during a game against the Denver Broncos, he suffered a clavicle fracture, which ended his year. With the Raiders, he threw for 2,013 yards, 9 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

CAREER NUMBERS OF GARDNER MINSHEW

In his career, Minshew has accumulated 68 touchdown passes and 34 interceptions across four teams. As for his numbers, his best season came in 2019 when he totaled 21 touchdown passes with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Another standout year for the new Chiefs quarterback was in 2023, when he took on a key role with the Indianapolis Colts, throwing for over 3,000 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, which earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl that year.

MINSHEW HAS BIG GOALS WITH PATRICK MAHOMES

Patrick Mahomes is the heart of the Kansas City Chiefs and, for many, the face of the NFL right now. Minshew will have the opportunity to learn from one of the best quarterbacks, not only in today’s NFL but in history, and perhaps next year, he will look for an opportunity with another team in the league.
