As Patrick Mahomes gears up for another Super Bowl, his father, Pat Mahomes Sr., is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. A recent social media post has fans raising eyebrows, not just because of its timing but because of Mahomes Sr.’s history.

The father of the Chiefs’ three-time Super Bowl champion has had multiple run-ins with the law, most recently serving a 10-day jail sentence in October 2024 for a DWI arrest. That February, he was pulled over in Tyler, Texas, with a blood alcohol content of 0.23-almost three times the legal limit. It wasn’t his first offense, and as part of his plea deal, he was sentenced to five years of probation and a year of intense supervision.

Now, with the Super Bowl just around the corner, Mahomes Sr. posted on X, “SEE YOU SOON NOLA!!!” The reaction was immediate. Given his past legal troubles, especially related to drinking and driving, fans weren’t exactly thrilled about the idea of him heading to New Orleans, a city known for its party culture.

Some of the responses were brutal. “Is that a threat?” one fan asked. Another chimed in, “You drunk driving there, big dog?” The skepticism comes from Mahomes Sr.’s track record-this isn’t just about trash talk or hype-building. His legal issues have been well-documented, and every move he makes ends up under the microscope, especially during Super Bowl week.

Mahomes Sr. blames hack for Buffalo “joke”, but fans aren’t buying It

Adding to the drama, Mahomes Sr. has also stirred controversy with his online presence. After the Chiefs’ AFC Championship win over Buffalo, he supposedly tweeted, “Today is a great day to not be from Buffalo.” The backlash was swift, but shortly after, Mahomes Sr. claimed his account had been hacked. “Haven’t been on Twitter/X in years,” he wrote on Instagram. “My account was hacked and I do not have access to it.”

While Patrick Mahomes has remained quiet about his father’s situation, it’s not hard to see why fans are concerned. The Chiefs are chasing history, aiming for their third straight Super Bowl victory, and distractions like this can add unnecessary noise.

For now, Mahomes Sr. insists there’s nothing to worry about. Whether fans believe him is another story.
