Mexican fighter Luis ‘Pantera’ Nery and his next opponent, Japan’s Kyonosuke Kameda, have a heated fight scheduled for February 22 in Tijuana, Mexico, after on Monday, during a face-off following a press conference, both fighters got too close and the Mexican threw two open-handed punches at the Japanese fighter, prompting both fighters’ teams to immediately intervene to separate them

The promoter of the fight, Zanfer, released the video of the tense moment on social networks to show that the rivalry is very heated

As is traditional, both fighters stood face to face to challenge each other in the stare down. However, Japanese fighter Kameda invaded the rival space of the ‘Pantera‘ and pressed his forehead against the Mexican’s to force him to back off. This annoyed Nery, who threw two hooks, one with each hand, with an open palm. However, Kameda managed to dodge them with a quick head movement and by leaning backwards

Immediately, the staffs of both fighters intervened to push them back and, even though the Japanese wanted to go back to the front, he could no longer get close to his rival. This gesture provoked a series of criticisms against the Mexican, because he has a strong rivalry against Japanese fighters

This is because on two occasions he traveled to the Far East to face Shinsuke Yamanaka. However, in his second fight he failed to make weight and was heavily criticized as it was considered a serious lack of respect and he was expelled from Japan to fight in that country until last year, when he faced Naoya Inoue, one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, who ended up knocking him out in six rounds.

When is the fight between Pantera Nery and Kyonosuke Kameda?

Luis ‘Pantera’ Nery has a record of 35 wins, 27 of them by knockout, and two defeats, the last one in May, while Kameda has 15 wins, nine of them by knockout, with three defeats and two draws

Both will face each other on February 22 at the Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana, Mexico.
