Paige Spiranac has officially put an end to a long-standing rumor about a so-called “promise” involving Rickie Fowler. During a Q&A session on her Instagram Story on Friday, January 24, the 31-year-old influencer addressed a frequently asked question about a fake tweet attributed to her.

The rumor, which resurfaces year after year, falsely claims Spiranac vowed to go topless if Fowler ever won a major championship. Spiranac clarified that the viral tweet was the work of an impersonator.

“This is from like four or five years ago,” Spiranac explained. “Someone created a fake tweet that said, ‘I will show the girls if Rickie Fowler wins a major.’ Every single year, this fake tweet pops up, and I get asked if it’s real or not. It is fake. The girls are real. The tweet is fake.

“It will never die. Every year, I think, ‘Finally, it won’t pop up,’ and then it does. It’s insane.”

In her Q&A, Spiranac touched on a topic close to her heart-encouraging kids to try multiple sports rather than specializing too early.

“I’m a huge advocate for having your child play a bunch of different sports. It’s great for their development,” she said. “I’ve seen so many kids specialize in one sport at a very young age, and it results in burnout and just a bunch of other not-so-fun things. So, have your child play everything.”

A social media sensation

Spiranac, a former professional golfer turned influencer, has cemented herself as one of the most followed personalities in golf. While the fake tweet may be a persistent myth, Spiranac has also used her platform to share valuable insights about sports and development.
