Paige Bueckers receives the support of her Dallas Wings teammates and is being nominated as a future MVP

This year, the rookie level in the WNBA has been something to talk about. And, among the most prominent players is Paige Bueckers.

The Dallas Wings star has contributed to the team and has shown her talent by being one of the favorites for Rookie of the Year. However, her teammates think she will become much more than that.

Bueckers, MVP?

In her first year in the league, Paige has been one of only ten rookies to start the All-Star Game and received the WNBA Rookie of the Month award twice.

In addition, the former UConn is the first rookie guard to record 350+ points and 100+ assists in the first 20 games of her career and the fastest player to total +500 points and 150+ assists (she only needed 28 games), among other notable records.

This is reason enough for her Dallas teammate Diamond Miller to not hesitate to praise her and highlight her skills:

“Come on, I mean, I don’t know the statistics about everything, but she’s probably leading in most of them for this team,” began Miller in an interview with Dallas Hoops Journal.

She’s really a dynamic player. She’s probably going to be MVP one day in this league. She’s really talented. I think she deserves it – first team, too.

Diamond isn’t the only one at Wings who feels this way, however. Haley Jones had nothing but words of appreciation and admiration for Bueckers:

“I think that Paige is such a special player, not only because she can score in such variety – three levels, four, obviously she does all the little things – but I think she also does the right thing,” Jones said.

At the end of the game, she could take the shot, and a lot of times she passes. She has faith in us. I think just her basketball IQ and making every single person around her better is insane.

With her 19.4 points, 5.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 steals she averaged per game this season, it’s no wonder her teammates talk this way about Paige.

Despite this, her personal results are not translating into wins for the Wings. The team has nine consecutive losses and is in last place in the league standings with a 9-33 record, virtually eliminated from the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Dallas travels to Los Angeles to play the Sparks (19-22) on Sunday at Crypto.com Arena. It concludes its schedule against the Phoenix Mercury (27-15) on Thursday, September 11 at the College Park Center.
