It’s safe to say that Paige Bueckers is living up to the hype. Following an extremely successful collegiate career at UConn, where she could only be stopped by a knee injury for one season, Bueckers has been every bit as advertised as the first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Bueckers made the All-Star team and is well on her way to being named the Rookie of the Year.
While the Dallas Wings haven’t seen much success in her first season there, Bueckers has at least given fans a show every other night. That was especially the case on Wednesday night, when she poured in a career-high 44 points, the most by a rookie in one game in WNBA history and the 10th-most by any player. Bueckers was on a mission that night, and now we know that she may have had a little bit of extra motivation from a particular member in the crowd.

Before the game, Bueckers was spotted peeking into the crowd during warmups. She was caught off-guard when she saw a famous actor there. She waved at him, then turned to her teammates: “That’s Shemar Moore!“
Bueckers nearly lost her mind when she saw Moore in the stands, then proceeded to play out of her mind for the duration of the game. Moore, who is best known for his roles on The Young and the Restless and Criminal Minds, was there with his daughter and ex-partner Jesiree Dizon.
Moore and Bueckers ended up meeting after the game, taking pictures together and sharing a heartwarming moment. Bueckers is attracting all kinds of celebrities to Wings games, showing off her starpower.
