Caitlin Clark also faced stalking earlier this year, leaving her “very fearful,” and other players, including Brittney Griner, Alyssa Thomas, and Breanna Stewart, have experienced racial slurs, online harassment, and homophobic messages. These distressing incidents highlight the urgent need for stronger protection for female athletes.
WNBA steps up: The launch of the player safety task force
In response to the growing concern over harassment, WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert has announced the formation of a new task force dedicated to combating hate and vitriol directed at players, coaches, and key stakeholders.
