A film script could be made for this boxing evening that begins like this: August 2, Chicago. “Intensity at its best. Pure adrenaline”. Because that’s what there will be at the Credit Union 1 Arena in the Windy City. It will be a high-voltage day.

Oscar “La Migraña” Duarte and local fighter Kenneth “Bossman” Sims Jr. will face off and showcase their qualities in a 12-round super lightweight bout, broadcast live globally on DAZN.

Duarte vs Sims Jr: contenders with even history

Cancun Boxing is the promoter and organizer of this card, which not only includes these names, but also those of other relevant fighters with high knockout potential. Some of them are even former world champions.Duarte (29-2-1, 23 KOs) is the heavy favorite. He is coming off a knockout of Miguel Madueño in his most recent fight. He is 29 years old and has decided that it is time to make the definitive leap to the big leagues of the division.

Sims Jr. (22-2-1, 8 KOs) is the homegrown fighter. Born in Chicago, he fights at home. He is technical, effective, and his victory over Kendo Castaneda earlier this year keeps him on the radar of serious contenders.

“It’s a clash of styles that could steal the night. Duarte has dynamite, but Sims knows how to box with IQ.”

Regis Prograis and JoJo Diaz liven up a stellar co-main event

Two former world champions are backing him. Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (29-3, 24 KOs) and Joseph “JoJo” Diaz (34-7, 15 KOs) will also step into the ring at super lightweightPrograis returns after recovering from a shoulder injury that kept him out of the ring following tough defeats to Devin Haney and Jack Catterall. Diaz, meanwhile, is coming off a convincing victory in June and is looking to consolidate his comeback.

Both fighters know what’s at stake. A win could put them back on the promoters’ radar and open doors to title rematches. A loss, on the other hand, could mean goodbye. Next stop? Fights in bars or fights on demand.
