The Seattle Mariners are back in the Major League Baseball playoffs after a two-year absence, and no one seems happier than Carissa Ferguson. The wife of Mariners ace Caleb Ferguson took to Instagram to celebrate the team’s achievement, and among the many congratulatory messages she received, none stood out more than Olivia Dunne’s.

The Mariners ended a prolonged drought, having only reached the postseason once in the past 23 years, back in 2023. But Caleb Ferguson appears to be something of a lucky charm wherever he goes.

The left-handed pitcher has suited up for five different teams in recent seasons, reaching the playoffs with three of them: the Dodgers in 2023, the Astros in 2024, and now the Mariners in 2025. Proud of her husband’s success, Carissa shared a carousel of celebratory photos on Instagram, prompting an immediate and sweet response from Dunne.

Dunne and Ferguson’s friendship

Carissa captioned her post, “The best time of the year,” complete with baseball emojis. Livvy Dunne couldn’t resist jumping in, writing, “So cute, miss u,” to which Carissa replied, “ilysmmmm miss u pookie.”

The friendship between Ferguson’s wife and the former LSU gymnast dates back to when Caleb shared a locker room with Dunne’s boyfriend, Paul Skenes, during his stint with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ferguson had signed a one-year, $3 million contract with Pittsburgh in the offseason but was traded to Seattle midseason in exchange for young pitcher Jeter Martinez. Despite their short time together in the PNC Park stands, Livvy and Carissa quickly bonded and have stayed close.

What’s next for the Mariners

While Dunne and Skenes prepare for some early vacation time after the Pirates’ playoff elimination, Carissa and Caleb are gearing up for another postseason run-this time with the Mariners. Seattle has already clinched the AL West crown but is still fighting for a first-round bye.

For both couples, luck seems to be part of the game.
