Oleksandr Usyk’s 2024 was spectacular, his perfect year mainly due to his performances, especially in the two fights against Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia.
The first of this trilogy took place in May, with Usyk winning a split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.
In the rematch in December, the Ukrainian boxer was much more powerful against the Englishman, winning a unanimous decision this time. A second victory that leaves him at the top of the boxing world.
His 2024 is not only based on these two fights, as Oleksandr raised his name and is one of the great figures in Ukraine, his great ability in the ring leaves him as the best boxer in the world at this time. Taking out Tyson Fury’s undefeated record and leaving him in a supposed retirement puts him in the history books for his great ability.
Usyk ready to collect his awards
Throughout the year, Usyk has received major recognition as Fighter of the Year from a number of boxing magazines and websites, including Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News, among others, for his historic performances.
The Ukrainian can’t get enough and is nominated for Fighter and Fight of the Year at the BWAA Awards.
Usyk, the heavyweight champion, was nominated for the Sugar Ray Robinson Fighter of the Year along with Dubois, Beterbiev, Ramirez and Rodriguez.
The first Usyk vs. Fury fight was nominated for Fight of the Year, along with Joyce vs. Chisora, Ford vs. Kholmatov, Ortiz vs. Bohachuk, and Teraji vs. Canizales.
We’ll see if the unified heavyweight champion can add the 2 awards to his collection.

The Marvin Kohn Good Guy Award includes Anber, Silverglade, Turner, Pratt and Jackson with Roberts.
The Barney Nagler Award goes to Goodman, Gordon, Hascup, Majeski or Sheppard, and the John McCain-Bill Crawford Award goes to Prichard Colon and family, Dib, Martin or Vanes Martirosyan.
