Diogo Jota’s death has been a blow to the world of sport. The Portuguese was travelling in his car, together with his brother, on the Rias Baixas motorway (A52) at kilometre 65, when a blowout in his tyre ended up being the cause of a fatal accident. At just 28 years of age, the Portuguese footballer has died after marrying his partner just 13 days ago.

During the hours following the accident, all the sportsmen and women showed that such a death is heart-wrenching. During the match between Al-Hilal and Fluminense, his national team-mates, Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo, wept uncontrollably as they remembered him with a minute’s silence and saw his image on the video scoreboard before the match began.

Tributes have been paid all over the world to the striker. At their reunion concert in Cardiff, Oasis showed that in situations like this we must be united. The Manchester band returned to the stage after 16 years and in the best way they know how, with their music, they paid this beautiful tribute in memory of Diogo Jota.

As die-hard Manchester City and football fans, the Gallagher brothers paid tribute to Diogo Jota by performing ‘Live Forever’ with an image of him on the concert screens. It was a very emotional moment that the concertgoers did not hesitate to cheer and raise their hands in unison in memory of the Portuguese footballer.

Oasis’ tribute to Diogo Jota: They sing ‘Live Forever’ in memory of the player

This is the lyrics of the song that the Manchester band has chosen as a show of admiration and respect for Diogo Jota:

Maybe I Really Don’t Want to Know

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Because I only want to fly

Lately, did you ever feel the pain

Under the morning rain

While it soaks you to the bone?

Maybe I just want to fly

I want to live, I don’t want to die

Maybe I just want to breathe

Maybe I Just Don’t Believe

Maybe you’re just like me

We see things that they will never see

You and I are going to live forever

We’re going to live forever!
