The 2025 NFL Draft is considered a strong one at a few positions, but the general consensus is that it’s one of the worst quarterback classes in a while. That’s bad news for the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants at the top of the draft, but it’s great news for Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
In other years, Ward and Sanders would have more competition as the top players at the position, but everyone expects them to be the first two taken. That’s expected to be the case, as every mock draft has them going within the Top 8 picks. But could another surprising name close the gap and join the fold?
Could Jaxson Dart be drafted way higher than expected?
According to a statistics model created by Jim Sannes of FanDuel, Jaxson Dart is the quarterback with the best collegiate statistical resume in this class.
While stats don’t always tell the whole story, the model has been successful in predicting future success in the NFL for college prospects, so it’s nothing to sneeze at.
Sannes believes Dart is going to be drafted higher than anyone is currently expecting.
When you blend it all together, Dart winds up being the seventh-ranked quarterback in the history of the model, which currently includes 259 players. Of the players ahead of him, five wound up being top-five picks, and the other was Hurts. So not only have these kinds of players hit at a high rate, but they tend to go high in the draft.
This is of particular interest to the Las Vegas Raiders, who have been linked to Dart due to the potential of Tom Brady being enamored with his profile.
