Recently, the former Jets player published a letter on his social media where he revealed the health problems he was going through. He also explained that he was going to need dialysis treatment.
In 2006, I was diagnosed with a genetic defect that has led to chronic kidney disease.
He explained in the letter addressed to the Jets family, he stated in his post.

Today, that community he addressed in his letter is in mourning over his painful passing.

Nick Mangold’s Time with the New York Jets
Nick Mangold arrived in the NFL in 2006 and served as the team’s center until 2016. He played a total of 171 games, including seven playoff games. An ankle problem before the game against the Jacksonville Jaguars sidelined him, and that would be the beginning of the end of his career in the league.
He was named a First-Team All-Pro for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, and was also included the following year, but as part of the Second-Team. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl for the seasons from 2008 to 2011 and from 2013 to 2015.
