In an NFL era dominated by high-profile quarterbacks and multimillion-dollar endorsement deals, Odell Beckham Jr. stands apart.
While his on-field production has been marked by highlight-reel moments and significant injuries, the wide receiver’s off-field presence and business acumen are what international sports agent Brittany Gilman believes could make him the NFL’s next billionaire.
In a recent interview with EssentiallySports, Gilman didn’t hesitate when asked which NFL star has the best shot at billionaire status.
“I definitely think if we’re talking about NFL-Odell Beckham.” she said. “Odell Beckham is one of the most globally recognized NFL players of our time. Also just a phenomenal human being in and out.”
Beckham, known for his electric plays and eye-catching fashion, has long been more than just a football player. Gilman noted his latest move into the business world as another reason she sees big financial potential. “He recently just launched his and friends’ company, which is really exciting.”
A Global Brand Beyond the Gridiron
Odell Beckham Jr. entered the league with the New York Giants in 2014 and quickly became one of the NFL’s biggest stars.
His one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys on national television is still considered one of the greatest plays in NFL history. Since then, he’s played for the Browns, Rams, Ravens, and the Dolphins, winning Super Bowl LVI with Los Angeles.
Though injuries have affected his consistency, Beckham has remained a magnetic figure in sports and entertainment. His five-year, $95 million contract signed with the Giants in 2018 made him the highest-paid wide receiver at the time. As Gilman emphasized, his off-field endeavors may ultimately outpace his football earnings.
“I think Odell, you know, is still in that transition period. He’s not quite ready to say he’s retired; he’s not quite retired, but he knows it’s coming soon,” she added.
Coaches who’ve worked with Beckham also highlight his unique value. Sean McVay, his coach during the Rams’ championship run, shared his admiration: “The love I have for Odell, you know that… I’m not really sure about him,” McVay said when asked about Beckham’s future after their Super Bowl win.
When the Miami Dolphins signed Beckham in 2024, head coach Mike McDaniel expressed excitement. “We did make him an offer. And business takes time, especially with players such as Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career. He still has really good football in front of him.”
At age 31, Beckham remains one of the most recognizable faces in football. With ventures in fashion, lifestyle, and now entrepreneurship, his path to the billionaire club might look different from that of a typical NFL star – but it’s one Gilman, and many others, wouldn’t bet against.
As Gilman said, he’s not just a great athlete – he’s “a phenomenal human being in and out.” That combination of charisma, brand appeal, and drive could be exactly what pushes him into elite financial territory.
