The anticipation is growing for Super Bowl LIX as the Philadelphia Eagles will look to get revenge against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9 in New Orleans.

The two teams squared off in Super Bowl LVII in 2022, with Patrick Mahomes leading the Chiefs to victory after a fourth-quarter comeback for the ages.

With the Chiefs slight favorites after the early betting lines were released, the big question heading into the game is what Jalen Hurts and the Eagles can do to stop Kansas City from becoming the first ever back-to-back-to-back Super Bowl champions.

Keys to victory for Philly

While breaking down Super Bowl LIX, Devin McCourty and Tony Dungy talked about how the Eagles offense can get to the Chiefs’ defense.

Dungy believes a lot of the responsibility will fall on the shoulders of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and how he executes the Eagles’ run game.

“I think for me it’s got to be Kellen Moore. Don’t leave that running game unless they force you to leave it. Let’s see if this Kansas City defense can stop the run,” said Dungy.

Dungy pointed to the Eagles’ strong offensive line and their ability to stop the Kansas City defensive front, which will likely look to blitz Hurts under the tutelage of Steve Spagnuolo.

McCourty backed Dungy’s thoughts while adding that a lot of the run games success will fall on the shoulders of Hurts.

“I want to see and I said it in the Rams game too. I want to see Jalen Hurts let it rip in the run game,” said McCourty.

“When he decides to run the ball I think about him as a runner, being in the secondary. This is the last game of the season. I want to see him be an aggressive runner.”

So far the Chiefs have allowed just 148 yards in the run game this postseason, showing that Saquon Barkley and Hurts will have quite the challenge in getting things going on the ground.

Keys for Kansas City

As for the keys to success for Kansas City, Dungy believes they have to find a way to neutralize Philly’s defensive line.

Dungy believes the Eagles give up a lot of space when covering Zach Ertz in the NFC Championship Game, meaning quick passes to the likes of Travis Kelce could be key.

“It’s got to be controlling that defensive line. Mahomes has been so good at it over the course of the year,” said Dungy.

“We saw all that quick passing, and RPOs in the last game against Buffalo. Another thing- we saw Zach Ertz catch a lot of balls for Washington. If Ertz can catch 12 passes, can Travis Kelce. They better have a different plan for Kelce than they had for Ertz.”
