Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is facing unexpected personal turmoil after his engagement to Sarah Jane Ramos was abruptly called off last week, leaving fans and media speculating about the reasons behind the canceled wedding.
The couple reportedly ended their Lake Como wedding plans following tensions that arose during their joint bachelor and bachelorette parties in the Bahamas, sparking rumors that a prenuptial agreement may have influenced the sudden breakup, though reports suggest deeper issues existed.
Robert Littal of BSO reported that the prenup was not the cause, claiming the split resulted from “months of strain,” and emphasized the relationship was volatile
“BSO sources,” Little wrote. “Who were in the Bahamas say that it wasn’t anything as salacious as most people would believe.
“Apparently, the relationship has never been that steady and can be volatile, with arguments and disagreements.
“There were trust and infidelity issues. When the liquor started flowing, tongues started to get loose, and some things were said that you simply can not come back from.
“I will tell you why I believe it. 1- a couple of people close to the situation told me that wasn’t it and 2- No athlete in 2026 is getting married with no prenup it is standard stuff, there wouldn’t even be an engagement if that wasn’t agreed to.”
TMZ Sports confirmed the engagement ended about a month before their April wedding, attributing the breakup to a heated argument in the Bahamas.
Before Sarah Jane Ramos later addressed speculation online, clarifying that the prenuptial agreement played no role in ending their engagement.
“This had nothing to do with a prenup, I hope we can put that rumor to rest now,” Ramos wrote on Instagram, her first public statement on the split.
Prescott has not commented publicly about the breakup, leaving fans to speculate on the reasons behind their sudden separation.
The couple shares two daughters, Margaret Jane Rose, 2, and Aurora Rayne, nine months. A representative for Ramos said both are “heartbroken that they’re not getting married.”
The couple began dating in September 2023 and got engaged in October 2024, with plans to wed in Lake Como, Italy.
An email sent to 250 guests just one month before the April 10 date explained the cancellation of the Lake Como wedding in Europe.
“It is with heavy hearts that we privately inform our attendees that we have made the very difficult decision to cancel our wedding,” the note said, signed by both Prescott and Ramos. “We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we welcome your prayers.”
Dak Prescott under pressure to keep Jerry Jones happy
Off the field, Prescott will focus on the 2026 NFL season, aiming to lead the Cowboys back to the playoffs as the quarterback threw for 4,552 yards and 30 touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl selection.
He will rely on a quartet of Javonte Williams, Jake Ferguson and standout wide receivers Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens to try for a fourth Super Bowl, bringing the championship back to the AT&T Stadium for the first time since the 1990s.
The pressure will be on Prescott after he finalized a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys, keeping him in Dallas through the 2027 season.
And the deal is reportedly a four-year agreement, providing stability for the quarterback and the franchise as they aim to contend for a Super Bowl. The contract is valued at approximately $212 million, including $120 million guaranteed.
Prescott’s yearly average of $53 million makes him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league and puts the onus on him to finally reward Jerry Jones’ investment by getting the 83-year-old’s hands on the Lombardi Trophy next February.
